Update on Caucus Locations for April 8

I know many are very excited to share Caucus Night locations with your supporters ahead of Tuesday, April 8. We are excited too, and that's why we put in our first facilities request with Minneapolis Public Schools back in October of last year.

With current staffing challenges, approval of requests by Minneapolis Public Schools is slower than what we all would like it to be. I have been in communication with the singular staff member who manages facilities rentals and I have also been in touch with the superintendent's staff. I have communicated with as much clarity as possible that we face real deadlines and need approvals as soon as possible.

I am pleased to share that we do have approved facilities requests for seven of 13 wards for Tuesday, April 8. We also have approved facilities requests for seven ward conventions and the city convention on July 19 and 20.

We promised to keep you updated. Once all locations have the request approved and the invoice paid for, then we will publish a single web page with locations by ward and precinct. This decision is to avoid confusion if there is a change in location before an invoice is paid. There will also be a spreadsheet with this same data to make it easy to plug into your favorite database software. Folks who have preregistered with a nonattendee form (over 350 now) will also receive their location by email, but they are never required to attend in-person to be nominated.

There have also been questions about the Minnesota Secretary of State Caucus Finder tool and the old Minnesota DFL Caucus Finder. The Minnesota Secretary of State tool is only run in statewide caucus years (e.g. 2022, 2024). The DFL tool was operated by a volunteer and is no longer in service. The Minneapolis DFL caucus locations page will include a link to find your precinct with Pollfinder.

As always, let me know if you have any questions, and you can always reach me at conrad@minneapolisdfl.org.
