2025 Convention Information
The 2025 Minneapolis DFL Convention will be on July 19, 2025, at the Target Center, 600 First Avenue North in Downtown Minneapolis. Registration will begin at 9am on the Skyway Level, and we expect to start proceedings at 10am. Enter the Target Center via the sidewalk entrance facing First Avenue at North Sixth Street, or via the Skyway.
Transit & Parking
MetroTransit’s web site has a page about reaching the Target Center via public transit.
The nearest parking ramps are Ramp A, Ramp B, and Hawthorne, with Target Center access via the Skyway.
Security
The Minneapolis DFL and the Target Center are both well aware of the need for heightened security in the wake of last month’s violence, while at the same time aiming to provide a convenient convention experience. The Center has security checkpoints at its Skyway-level entrance, and all bags and containers will be screened for weapons and other dangerous material.
Laptops, extra batteries, cords, various papers, and other materials relevant for convention business are certainly allowable, as are personal items such as books and crafts. However, attendees are advised that larger bags are more likely to require additional screening such as manual search or secondary x-ray machines. In order to minimize the wait for bag scans, we encourage everyone to pack as lightly as possible.
Food & dietary accommodations
The Target Center does not allow outside food or drink at the events it hosts. However their union-staffed stadium concessions will be open for the convention. Convention-day menus are now available: note that Kosher and Halal menu options must be ordered ahead no later than 2pm on Wednesday, July 16.
Empty water bottles will be allowed at the event. We recommend non-metal bottles to speed clearance at security.
The Target Center is a cash-free venue. An earlier version of this page incorrectly mentioned the availability machines which would convert cash to fixed-value cards, but we have since learned that those machines are no longer available.
Mobility & other accommodations
The Target Center is a wheelchair-accessible site. Please use the Accommodations Request form to let us know about your individual mobility needs.
Interpretive and hearing-impaired services
Simultaneous translation will be provided using the same system as at several ward conventions. Equipment may be checked out at the Help Desk on Concourse Level 1.
Information about support for hearing-impaired delegates and alternates will be posted this week.
Alternates and upgrading
Upgrading of alternates and delegates takes place at the convention on an ongoing basis. When delegates are absent or leaves, the Credentials Committee will check for alternates who have checked in and are present to be upgraded.
Guests, press, and other observers
Target Center requires members of the press to pre-register, and places restrictions on equipment. See this form for more information.
There will be a separate registration booth for guests and other observers outside of the security check. During morning registration of delegates it will be on the ground floor level, down the escalators from the Skyway entrance. Later in the day we expect to move guest registration upstairs, closer to the security check.
Guests are not admitted to the main delegate seating area; guest seating is in Section 133. Guests are required not to disrupt proceedings and delegates, whether physically or by noise during proceedings and presentations, and will be barred from the convention if disruptive.
