Ward 6 Endorsing Convention Moved to Brian Coyle on Sunday, June 1

We recently shared an update about fire safety for Ward 2 and Ward 6. Both endorsing conventions were booked at locations that did not meet fire code capacity for their spaces. Both Ward endorsing conventions will now take place on Sunday, June 1, 2025. We are pleased to announce today that the Ward 6 endorsing convention will be held at Brian Coyle Neighborhood Center in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood. This location is within Ward 6 at a respected neighborhood community center where the DFL recently hosted a town hall with party leaders and elected officials.

A number of other locations were also considered. The original Seward Montessori / Matthews Park gymnasium did not have the capacity with a smaller gym and issues with the reservation. South High School is not far from Ward 6, but distance was a factor that DFL neighbors thought would be a hindrance for elders. Willey Hall on the West Bank is also just outside Ward 6, but University of Minnesota Classroom Services is no longer renting to non-University groups.

Brian Coyle is a treasured community center, and with two conference rooms and food allowed in the gym, we know this will be a welcoming gathering space for DFL neighbors to make their voices heard in local democracy.
