Ward 2 Convention Moved to Rarig on Saturday, May 3

On Tuesday, April 22, the Minneapolis DFL Executive Committee voted to approve funds for a Ward 2 endorsing convention on Saturday, May 3, 2025 with the preferred location of Rarig Center on the University of Minnesota campus.

Under the Minneapolis DFL Constitution, the responsibility for precinct caucus and ward conventions in each Ward is the responsibility of the DFL elected officers of each Ward Committee. The Ward 2 Committee is opposed to May 3 as a date.

This is a fluid situation. The Ward 2 Rules Committee voted to have the call to order time to be 12:00 pm with the assumption of a date of Sunday, June 1, with a prayer break time of 1:11 pm based on the calendar for June 1. Those temporary rules and agenda can be amended by the convention when it meets.

The current status is that the Ward 2 Convention will meet on Saturday, May 3, at Rarig with a call to order at 12:00 pm. The Ward 2 Rules Committee may meet again between now and May 3 to change the call to order to match the paper notice that is being mailed today by proponents of Rarig for a call to order of 11:00 am.
