The caucus and convention process gives everyday citizens a more level playing field when seeking office.  The process requires candidates to connect with neighbors on caucus night, when they select delegates to represent them at an endorsing convention.  A candidate earns endorsement only with the votes of at least 60% of the delegates at the convention.

So the DFL endorsement reflects true grassroots support of neighbors who take the time to get to know the candidates and their platforms. The caucus and convention process is a bold contrast to a primary-only system, where candidates depend much more heavily on large donors for the higher hurdle of a primary election.

The state party's bid to set aside Senator Omar Fateh's endorsement by convention delegates has temporarily paused new mailings of DFL slate information, and may cause some confusion as mailers introducing the original DFL slate move through bulk mail delivery.  The Coordinated Campaign is now working on updated designs for sample ballots highlighting our City Council, Park Board, and Board of Estimate and Taxation candidates in local precincts, and we are looking forward to driving up turnout in this year's election.

Join us for doorknocking or phonebanking!  Our candidates welcome newcomers and old hands.  Campaign events kick off with a quick training, and a summary of what the campaigns have been hearing recently from voters.  A calendar of campaign events with the endorsed candidates is available on the home page of the Minneapolis DFL, minneapolisdfl.org.

The Coordinated Campaign funds campaign mailing, literature, activities, and events for endorsed DFL candidates up-and-down the ticket.  To support the Coordinated Campaign, make your donation at secure.actblue.com/donate/mpls-dfl-coordinated.
